SFTP SCP file transfer via DataFreeway

Hello [NAME], and welcome to the 5th Edition of the SOHO IT Solutions newsletter.

Last month we said we would talk about free SSH (SSH1,SSH2,SFTP), WebDAV, ftp, FTPS Client for Windows.  Ok then here we go.  I won't get into all the technical details of the different protocols, I will provide links to their meanings in this newsletter.  While we all may be busy getting ready for the holidays some of us may be the owners or operators of some kind of E-Commerce site, a Company website or run a site for your local church.  While it is true that ftp was designed to move files around security is not one of it's strong points.  While we were looking for a good secure sftp (secure file transfer protocol) for windows we found this site and tried out DataFreeway.  The site offers this program as free but it does require one to register it's software.  We found this to be a painless task for such a nice program.  As you use it you will quickly find it's interface quite intuitive and will be at home with it's features a layout.  If you are running such a site and and are using plain ftp to access it.  STOP immediately and ask your host about  sftp or better yet scp to access your files.  Now let's all get back to getting ready for the holidays.

We wish you and you families a healthy happy holiday.
